As a person ages, excess skin growth, declining collagen production, and atrophying facial muscles contribute to a reduction in the skin’s ability to support itself, with the result of skin visibly sagging.     Deficient nutrition and harmful chemicals in our environment and in makeup can cause the skin to age prematurely, showing wrinkles and age spots.

How it works...

The high speed ultrafine fractional scanner will direct a grid pattern of tiny pulses of light at the skin. Each pulse delivers a column of energy that can reach the skin’s dermal layer. This stimulates a natural renewal process of the body’s own collagen. Also, because the laser beam has been fractionized, small areas of untreated skin will be left between the treated spots.  By strategically performing the procedure in this way, the healing process is accelerated.



What should I know about it?

​Fractional skin resurfacing is a safe and effective procedure for almost any skin type.  However pigmentation stimulation may occur in the new skin for those with darker pigmentation. Using  special topical crèmes to reduce the pigmentation in such cases will require patience over a few months but will be effective.  Fractional resurfacing can be applied to most areas of the body.  Consult your physician to see if fractional resurfacing is right for you.  The fractional CO2 treatment usually takes less than 30 minutes.



What the laser treatment feels like...

Treatment sensations vary from person to person.  There is a noticeable discomfort for most patients, but it is not exceedingly painful.  Topical skin anesthetic is applied before the treatment and is used to numb the nerves in the skin during treatment.  Cooling ointments may be used after treatment.  As tiny pulses of energy are delivered into the skin, most patients will experience a warm sharp feeling and an immediate tightening of the skin. Most patients look like they have a sunburn for a few days after the treatment, therefore the need for social downtime.  However the discomfort is less than that of a sunburn.  The discomfort of sunburns can be felt for days; with this procedure, discomfort is generally over within a few hours.  Depending on the desired outcome, post-treatment care will vary from patient to patient. Most patients that have a full facial skin rejuvenation treatment will need to stay indoors for a few days while applying a topical ointment.
